AMP Energy Announces Official Partnership Deals With Popular MMA Standouts

[SACRAMENTO, CA] — January 09, 2010 — AMP Energy, the official energy drink of World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), announced today that it will partner with three of the top mixed martial arts (MMA) athletes in the world—MMA featherweight superstar Urijah Faber, bantamweight standout Joseph Benavidez, and top featherweight prospect Chad Mendes—as it continues its commitment to one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.

“AMP Energy is excited to partner with these impressive athletes,” said Dave Mingey, vice president of marketing for AMP Energy. “Partnering AMP Energy with MMA is a powerful one-two punch, and Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez and Chad Mendes personify the energy, excitement, and unlimited potential of AMP Energy. We look forward to collaborating with these great athletes to take the WEC, and the AMP Energy brand, to the next level.”

"I am really excited and honored to represent the AMP Energy brand," said Faber, who will fight Raphael Assuncao this Sunday night, January 10 at WEC 46 in Faber's hometown of Sacramento, CA (9 p.m. ET, Versus) "It is a good feeling to walk into that cage knowing I have the support of such a great brand. 2010 will be my year."

Joseph Benavidez is currently the fifth-ranked bantamweight in the world. His unconventional style and fierce intensity have made him a crowd favorite. Benavidez , who recently defeated world-ranked contender Rani Yayha by first-round knock out, will fight again on March 6, 2010 in Columbus, Ohio.

Chad Mendes is one of the most promising athletes to enter the sport of mixed martial arts. With explosive take downs and devastating striking, he has since amassed a perfect 5-0 record. He will make his WEC debut in Columbus, Ohio on March 6, 2010.

"We are excited about the entry of AMP Energy into mixed martial arts," said Jeff Meyer of MMA Incorporated, the agency that manages all three fighters, "AMP Energy has proven to be an amazing partner in other major sports platforms, and the marketing power and credibility that AMP Energy brings to the table is not just good for our clients, but is good for the entire sport of mixed martial arts.
